Senior Financial Advisor

Toby has always loved being part of a team. Growing up in the Atlanta suburb of Tucker, he spent more hours than he could count playing team sports like basketball. Even when he played tennis, he preferred playing doubles. Not that Toby is dependent on a team – as an adult he began competing in grueling Ironman triathlons (four of them), which is as self-reliant as it comes. However, when given the choice, this outgoing and driven person prefers to work and be around other people. That’s because there is strength and bonding within the unit, and the best teams are full of vigorous individuals, who understand that their concerted efforts only make them better.

That even extends to his personal life. In 2021, Toby married Rachel, bringing together a family that now includes five children. And while most of them are now out of the house, they stay connected, with Toby and Rachel serving as the anchor points – a veritable team of their own.

That approach to life is what ultimately drew Toby to SGL. And he brought with him a host of experience from a unique perspective on the financial industry. That’s because, after graduation from Auburn University in 1997, Toby spent 20 years working with advisors as a wholesaler – before deciding that a role as an advisor made more sense for him. He has now been an advisor for 8 years. During that time, he made the most of his ability to relate to people and learn about their needs. And after working with SGL and seeing how it operated, he determined it would be the perfect fit for him.

Since moving into this role, Toby has advanced quickly, earning his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, Accredited Investment Fiduciary, and Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor accreditations. He also holds the Series 7 and 63 designations with LPL Financial, as well as his Series 66 with LPL Financial and IFG Advisory LLC. Toby also holds his Georgia Insurance license for Life, Accident and Health, and Variable Products.

A resident of Peachtree Corners, Toby works out of offices in both Gainesville and Peachtree Corners – where he serves on the board for the Peachtree Corners Business Association. Yet no matter where he works, he thrives in knowing that support is always available – and that he is always available to provide support. Toby is also a member of the Norcross High School Foundation board. His youngest children (Brett and Ava) will soon graduate from Norcross, while Ben is currently enrolled at the University of North Georgia as a cadet and is eying a future in the military (specifically special forces). Meanwhile, Bekah works as a stylist, and Vivian is a nurse that is expecting a child and is planning to move back to the Atlanta area once her husband graduates law school.

Even when his house is empty, Toby and Rachel aren’t too worried about staying busy. The couple train together at a local Crossfit gym and love to travel – beaches are a favorite destination.
