Marta Vazquez
Client Relationship Manager
Did you know that charcuterie is a whole branch of French cuisine? (First things first – it’s pronounced shar-koo-ter-ee – and is devoted to prepared meat products.) Most people just think of it as a meat and cheese board – but there’s so much more to it than that. After all, the French gave it its own name. Yet while most of us are content to throw some salami and Swiss cheese on a plate, Marta Vazquez taught herself the ins and outs of this intricate food presentation while she was at home with her baby son. Then she began to make charcuterie boards for others, and people took notice.
But Marta wasn’t bent on creating a meat and cheese empire, it was just her nature – when she has spare time, she studies and reads, learns the details, and puts it into action. And almost every time what she learns, she puts into helping and pleasing others. That helps explain why, before becoming a mother, Marta loved her time working with Lanier Federal Credit Union and then with Delta Community Credit Union for six-and-a-half years. Because she learned about how to help people make their money work for them – instead of the other way round – and then she used her natural people skills to help them understand how.
Now, she is excited to bring those skills to SGL, where she will help the team and work with clients, while getting back to the ideas that drove her career before her time at home. At the same time, the Gainesville native – who graduated from East Hall High School in 2013 – will get to continue her love of learning, as she undertakes a new role. And you can guarantee she is throwing herself into the challenge, just like she has in every other phase of her life.
When she’s not at work, Marta spends time with her husband (Eligio – or Eli for short), her son (Eligio – or Gio for short), her dog (a Bernedoodle named Henry) and their extended family. She loves trying new foods (naturally) but is always partial to Mexican and Italian cuisine and does embroidery – which feeds her creativity. And whenever she has free time, you can bet she’ll be learning something new to add to that list.
